Visual inspection of the returned product observed that the nail was broken, confirming the reported failure mode.Patient weight bearing activities were identified as the probable root cause.A review of device history record for the nail confirmed no deviations in the manufacturing process and that the finished product met all the required quality inspections (acceptance testing and x-ray inspection).
