> the product was returned to depuy synthes mitek for evaluation. The depuy synthes mitek team conducted a visual inspection of the returned device.Visual analysis of the returned sample revealed that she_1rstck_5.9,30,167cw_ mitek had a broken weld holding the shaft to the main body, and the o-ring was torn.A dimensional inspection was unable to be performed due to post-manufacturing damage. The observed condition of the device was consistent with a random component failure that may have been caused by exposure to unintended and/or excessive forces. As part of depuy synthes mitek quality process, all devices are manufactured, inspected, and released to approved specifications. The overall complaint was confirmed as the observed condition of the she_1rstck_5.9,30,167cw_ mitek would contribute to the complained device issue.During the investigation, no product design or manufacturing issues were observed that may have contributed to the complaint condition.Based on the investigation findings, it has been determined that no corrective and/or preventative action is proposed. However, depuy synthes mitek will continue to track any related complaints within this device family as a means of monitoring the extent to which this complaint is observed in the field.
