Information was received from a consumer regarding a patient receiving an unknown drug via an implantable pump.It was reported the patient went in to see their healthcare professional (hcp) last (b)(6) 2021 to have their catheter flushed.Since then, the patient has had a series of issues resulting in having the pain pump removed. No other information was provided.

Event Description
Additional information was received from the patient who reported that he had a possible catheter failure which then led to him getting meningitis, an unknown bacteria in his spinal cord and brain, needing to have three surgeries after because his spinal cord kept bleeding; and almost dying. He then needed to have his whole system explanted. He then got covid. He was working with his hcp (healthcare provider) to fix his l3 and l4 since they were damaged and then they would talk about possibly getting a new implant. He stated that he still had not been able to go back to work yet.The pump was delivering morphine at 0.4996 mg/day and baclofen at 29.97 mcg/day.The indication for pump use was failed back syndrome and non-malignant pain.
