Event Description

Additional information received from the healthcare provider (hcp) reported there was no clear cause of the seizure determined. The patient was given anticonvulsants related to the issue, but no other actions were taken. As of (b)(6) 2022 the hemorrhages and seizure hadn¿t resolved.Mri findings showed a heterogeneous area adjacent to the superior aspect of the left frontal lead which was suggestive of a tissue injury in the form of a late subacute/early chronic hematoma. It redemonstrated additional foci of hemorrhage adjacent to the more distal aspect of the lead and a very mild residual of old blood products (encephalomalacia) near the left lateral frontal lobe, so further follow-up was going to be done.

Additional information was received from the healthcare professional (hcp). It was reported that a patient had a respiratory decline and ended up having a small hemorrhage intra-op around the tract on the right side, using fhc.The doctor said a contributing factor could have been due to the patient being hypertensive at one point. Therefore, only the left side was implanted, and they did not do the second side.About a month after implant, the patient had a seizure and a car accident and the patient had hemorrhage on the left side. The physician stated the hemorrhage on the left maybe from the car accident as it was not there on post-op ct.However, there was more edema than expected from the hemorrhage. The doctor inquired if the materials were different for the directional leads that could be causing different patient reactions and the edema.
