Event Description
|
It was reported that a clicking noise was coming from the left ventricular assist device (lvad) outflow. The noise appeared to be coming from the motor area.It did not seem to be pulsating. The patient was not on monitors so no heart rate was available, though it was noted that last time the patient's heart rate was monitored it was much faster than the frequency of the clicks. After tightening the screw on the motor bracket and repositioning the outflow tubing, the clicking sounds resolved. There were no changes to patient status or hemolytic markers and the patient remained stable. There were no plans to switch to the backup system.
