Event Description
Information was received from a healthcare provider via a company representative regarding a patient receiving baclofen 1100mcg/ml at 100mcg/day and morphine 0.7mg/ml at.06353 mg/day via an implantable pump.It was reported the patient visited their managing physician for a dosage adjustment and the physician noticed redness around pocket site.The patient was advised patient to go to emergency room for infection.The implanting surgeon observed infection and will be scheduling for an explant of entire system in near future.There were no known environmental, external or patient factors that may have led or contributed to the issue.The diagnostics and troubleshooting performed was physician observation of the pump pocket.The actions and interventions taken to resolve the issue was managing physician requested the reporter to go to the ed (emergency department) to lower daily dosage to prepare for explant.The reporter visited ed on the evening of (b)(6) 2022 and performed the change per the managing physicians request.Surgical intervention did not occur but was planned though not scheduled.The issue was not resolved at the time of the report and it was noted the healthcare provider would not have any further information regarding the event.
