According to the reporter, during surgery, the pilot balloon did not inflate (possible air leak). The fault was detected almost immediately after intubation and was replaced by a new device. The "pneumotaponator" had cut, tear or hole.It was noted that the "pneumotaponator" is a cuff located at the distal end of the tube that is inflated with a small volume of air after intubation, with the purpose of obturating the airway, establishing an inhalation system, no leaks and avoiding pulmonary aspiration.Reintubation was required.
