Event Description
|
Information was received from a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for unknown gastric indications for use.It was reported that the reason for the call was that the battery was dead, but for the last couple months, the patient had felt the device "kick on" and "shock" them.They said they went to the emergency room (er) when this first happened in january.The patient told the healthcare provider about it.Adverse events were reviewed. the patient was redirected to their healthcare provider to further address the issue.

Additional information received from the patient stated their stimulator is dead but their doctor cannot schedule them to have it surgically replaced for 3 months and patient said they cannot wait that long.Asked if patient's ins battery was dead because it reached normal battery depletion? pt said that is what they are assuming because they have had it for 7 years.The issue was not resolved through troubleshooting.The patient was redirected to their healthcare provider to further address the issue.
