Manufacturer Narrative
Upon receipt at our post market quality assurance laboratory, this device was thoroughly inspected and analyzed.A high current drain was detected, but the battery still supported full device function.Detailed analysis confirmed the identified high current drain was a result of compromised capacitors. This resulted in the observed premature battery depletion. It was determined that the capacitors were compromised due to the presence of excess hydrogen in the device case.

Event Description
It was reported that the left ventricular (lv) lead impedances exhibited intermittent spikes down to 400-500 ohms.It was noted some months there were no spikes and other months it occurred 2-3 times.Technical services (ts) discussed looking at the impedance trends to evaluate how long it has been occurring, and performing pocket manipulation and an x-ray.The patients device system was evaluated and all measurements were within normal limits. The physician will continue to monitor.Subsequently, the cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemaker (crt-p) was prophylactically explanted and replaced. The lv lead remains in service. No adverse patient effects were reported.
