Intuitive surgical, inc.(isi) received the large clip applier instrument involved with this complaint and completed device evaluation.Failure analysis (fa) neither replicated nor confirmed the customer reported complaint. The instrument passed the recognition and engagement tests. The instrument moved intuitively with full range of motion in all directions. The grips opened and closed properly and were able to hold and snap the clip during the clip test. The instrument was fully functional and no problem was detected during the device evaluation.A review of the system and instrument logs for the procedure date of (b)(6) 2021 has been performed. There were no observed events in the system logs that would suggest a product issue and logged events are in line with normal system functionality. No image or video clip for the reported event was submitted for review. This complaint is being reported due to the following conclusion: it was alleged that the large clip applier instrument presented a non-intuitive motion issue during a surgical procedure. At this time, it is unknown what caused the non-intuitive motion event to occur. While there was no harm or injury to the patient, the reported failure mode could likely cause or contribute to an adverse event if it were to recur.
