Event Description
It was further reported that the cause of death is still unknown and that the ventricular assist device (vad) was disconnected for comfort measures.It was also stated that the patient had a chronic driveline infection but the vad was working fine up until the vad was turned off.Recently the patient had a clostridioides difficile (c-diff) infection that left the patient weakened.The patient had stopped eating and drinking an had seizures and the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (icd) was firing.The patient was not interested in continuing care further and the vad was decommissioned and the patient subsequently expired.There was no autopsy performed.

Manufacturer Narrative
