It was reported that the procedure was to treat a lesion in the right internal carotid artery. The emboshield nav6 embolic protection system (eps) was advanced to it's parking zone and deployed without issue.A non-abbott stent was implanted. The retrieval catheter for the eps filter was attempted to be advanced to retrieve the filter; however, it failed to cross the newly implanted stent, so it was removed from the patient.A lower profile balloon and guide liner were then advanced and used to pull the filter into the tip of the guide liner. After visualizing that the filter was collapsed, the devices were removed. There was no adverse patient effect and no clinically significant delay reported. No additional information was provided.

The device was not returned for evaluation. The lot history record (lhr) for this product could not be reviewed and a similar complaint query could not be performed because the product was not returned for evaluation and the lot number was not reported.Based on the information provided, the reported difficulties appear to be due to circumstances of the procedure. The difficulty advancing the retrieval catheter and difficulty removing the filter resulting in unexpected medical intervention appears to be due to anatomical conditions and interaction with the newly implanted stent. There is no indication of a product quality issue with respect to the design, manufacture, or labeling of the device.
