Information was received from healthcare provider (hcp) via a manufacturer representative regarding a handpiece. It was reported that during a box change, under general anesthetic, the doctor began using a handpiece to open device pocket. The patient spontaneously went into ventricular fibrillation (vf). The doctor provided chest compressions for short period and then a 200j external defibrillator shock was provided to bring patient out of arrhythmia. The patient was successfully reverted after one shock.Procedure afterwards continued without incident.Unclear cause for arrhythmia, doctors speculated possibly due to anesthetic reaction or handpiece conducting through device and lead. There was no further patient symptoms or complications associated with this event.
