Event Description
|
Information was received from a healthcare provider regarding a patient who was receiving baclofen at an unknown concentration and dose via an implantable pump for intractable spasticity: head/brain injury.It was reported that the patients pump leaked into the subcutaneous (sub q) of the pump pocket.The hcp mentioned the leak recently started but was not sure when.The hcp requested to permanently shut the pump off as the patient was receiving drug sub q.Technical services verified with the caller when the last refill was, and the hcp confirmed it was over a month ago.The hcp said the patient has medical history of a traumatic brain injury (tbi) and which was the reason the patient needed the pump.The patient had no symptoms or complications.Technical services provided the hcp with the code to shut the pump off.

Event Description
|
Additional information was received from the healthcare provider (hcp) there was no leak into the subcutaneous (sub q) tissue as suspected.The pump was intact and operating properly.Inflammation of unknown origin occurred around pump along with edema and erythema.The inflammation resolved and the pump remained off.At (b)(6) 2022 the pump was in the patient and in "off" mode.The plan was to remove the pump the week of (b)(6) 2023.The device would be returned.
