It was reported in an article in journal of ¿springerlink¿ titled "ivc filter retrieval in adolescents: experience in a tertiary pediatric center" that a vena cava filter was placed in a patient after being diagnosed with right lower extremity deep venous thrombosis.Approximately sometime post filter placement, a 15-mm snare-catheter was used to snare the hook of the filter.However, multiple attempts to envelop the snared filter struts into the sheath were unsuccessful.The device has been removed after an unsuccessful percutaneous removal procedure using double snare technique.There was no reported patient injury.
