An event regarding pain involving an adm liner was reported. The event was not confirmed.Method & results: product evaluation and results: material analysis, visual, functional and dimensional inspections could not be performed as the device remains implanted.Clinician review: a review of the provided medical information by a clinical consultant indicated: "this patient underwent a primary cementless total hip arthroplasty and reports that from the beginning he was unhappy with his hip complaining of pain burning and difficulty in walking. The surgeon has attributed this to the spine.I see no evidence of a workup for the painful joint.I cannot determine the root cause of this event with certainty. The causes of dissatisfaction accompanied by pain and difficulty in walking following a total hip performed about 10 years earlier are multifactorial. They include surgical technique factors including implant positioning and fixation, failure to provide for adequate fixation, impingement, as well as patient factors such as activity level and bmi.Pain from remote sources such as the spine, neurological issues or vascular issues can also contribute. With the evidence presented to me, i see no evidence for implicating the implant itself as the source of the patient's dissatisfaction." product history review: review of the device history records indicate devices were manufactured and accepted into final stock with no relevant reported discrepancies.Complaint history review: there have been no other similar events for the lot referenced. Conclusions: it was reported that the patient is experiencing pain 10 years post-implantation.A review of the provided medical records by a clinician was unable to confirm the event: ""this patient underwent a primary cementless total hip arthroplasty and reports that from the beginning he was unhappy with his hip complaining of pain burning and difficulty in walking. The surgeon has attributed this to the spine.I see no evidence of a workup for the painful joint." no further investigation for this event is possible at this time.If devices and/or additional information become available to indicate further evaluation is warranted, this record will be reopened.
