Event Description
|
Medtronic received information regarding a navigation system. It was reported that while in surgery, the site was experiencing issues tracking a straight suction. The suction was verified successfully, but when being used in the sinuses the instrument would stop tracking and turn red in the tracking details.A manufacturer representative (rep) reported that it did take a while to verify the instrument. They had tried switching instrument trackers and repositioning the patient on the flat emitter with no change. When switching to a tricut blade the site did not experience the same problems. There was no impact on patient outcome. The probable cause was suspected to be that the instrument was not in range of the emitter when in the sinuses.
