Event or Problem Description
|
|
It was reported that a balloon rupture occurred.A 4.0mmx60mmx135cm sterling balloon catheter was selected for use in an angioplasty procedure in the right superficial femoral artery. The patient had stage iii peripheral chronic obliterative arteriopathy (aocp).During the procedure, the balloon ruptured. The device was removed, but upon exiting the introducer, there was a complete fracture of the balloon with the tip remaining inside the vessel with part of the balloon. It was indicated that the patient experienced prolonged procedural time.No further complications were reported.
