Event Description
|
Information was received from a healthcare professional (hcp) via a company representative (rep) regarding a patient receiving baclofen (unknown concentration and dose) via an implantable pump.It was reported the patient had been admitted to the hospital on (b)(6) 2023, for suspected overdose symptoms.The pump had been interrogated (b)(6) 2023, and placed into minimal rate.A dye study with ct scan ad been ordered but not performed yet.Patient weight and medical history were asked but remain unknown.Additionally it had been noted surgical intervention had been planned but not scheduled yet.At the time of this report the issue has not resolved and the patients status was alive with injury.

Additional information was received from the healthcare provider (hcp) via a manufacturer representative (rep), which indicated that the fellow doctor interrogated the pump on (b)(6) 2023 and, per the fellow doctor, there was no pump malfunction in the pump logs.At the time of this report, no dye study or computed tomography (ct) scan had occurred and no information was available regarding scheduling.A pump explant was discussed by the doctor, but no information regarding planning or scheduling the explant was available.At the time ofthis report, the cause of the patient's symptoms was unknown.In regards to actions or interventions taken to resolve the event, the pump was put into minimum rate mode and the patient was currently being treated in the hospital.

Additional information was received from a manufacturer representative (rep).The rep stated that the pump was explanted on (b)(6) 2023 and the patient requested that the pump be given to them from pathology at the hospital.The rep stated that the pump would not be returned to the manufacturer for analysis at this time.The rep attached an image of the explanted pump that noted an issue with the catheter near the transition tubing.
