Event or Problem Description
|
|
It was reported that the procedure was to treat a stenosed lesion in the left anterior descending (lad) artery. The hi-torque (ht) balance middleweight (bmw) universal ii guide wire was advanced and used as a track.A stent was implanted and a non-compliant balloon was used for post dilatation. The 3.0x15mm nc trek balloon dilatation catheter (bdc) was attempted to be advanced to the stent but with significant resistance with the guide wire, could not reach the site where it needed to be dilated.A 6french (fr) guiding catheter also failed to pass into the artery. The ht bmw universal ii guide wire and the nc trek bdc were removed together as a unit.Another non-abbott guide wire and a smaller size non-abbott balloon were used to complete the procedure. However, dilatation of the stent may not be complete which may lead to in-stent restenosis. There was no adverse patient effect and there was no clinically significant delay in the procedure. No additional information was provided.
