Medtronic received information regarding a guidance system being used during a spinal procedure. It was reported that there was an alleged deviation.During the first trajectory of a ct-fluro workflow, the doctor reported that it felt off when he was drilling and everything ended up lateral. This happened on right l4.They had drilled, tapped, and tried to put in a screw but unable to get it past 30mm.Switched to imaging scan and plan and were able to finish the case.Checked registration, showed no shift, used the passive planer to check navigation accuracy and it was spot on.This resulted in a surgical delay of less than one hour. There was no impact on patient outcome.Additional information received from a manufacturer representative indicated they believed the deviation was between 1 and 3.5 millimeters (mm).
