Model Number K273
Medical Device Problem Code Battery Problem (2885)
Health Effect - Clinical Code No Clinical Signs, Symptoms or Conditions (4582)
Date of Event 01/11/2024
Type of Reportable Event Serious Injury
Event or Problem Description
It was reported that this pacemaker has dropped from 1.5 years down to 5 months battery remaining in a span of 2 months.Boston scientific technical services (ts) assessed that device went from 39 micro watts to 44 micro watts. Also, stated that this was most likely the transition from coulometer to voltage based calculation. Moreover, during the last year of device longevity, the device switched from monitoring power consumption to voltage based projection. This can result in a drop in battery longevity. As of this time, this device remains in service. No adverse patient effects were reported.

If information is provided in the future, a supplemental report will be issued. This product has not been returned for analysis. This report will be updated should additional information become available or if analysis is completed. The returned device was thoroughly inspected and analyzed upon receipt at our post market quality assurance laboratory.Visual examination of the device header and case noted scratches. The device was then exposed to simulated heart load conditions, and the pacing, and sensing functions were tested.Impedance testing was completed and all measurements were within normal limits. The device operated appropriately with no interruptions in therapy output at the returned programmed settings.A series of electrical tests was also performed, and again, normal device function was observed.
