Event or Problem Description
|
|
The reporter indicated that the surgeon implanted a 13.2mm vticm5_13.2; -8.00/+2.0/102 (sphere/cylinder/axis) implantable collamer lens into the patient's right eye (od) on (b)(6) 2024.Intraoperatively the lens was removed due to the lens being implanted upside down, there was patient injury and it was reported there was corneal edema and possible cataracts.Additionally there was loss of corneal transparency but due to the large corneal edema it is not possible to determine if a cataract has developed.Due to the doctor's nerves and the impossibility to manipulate the lens in the anterior chamber, the doctor decides to explant it and cancel the surgery. We're waiting to see how the patient evolves in the next few weeks. The problem is not resolved.
