Event or Problem Description
Livanova deutschland received a report that a s5 roller pump gave a motor control failure error message when the machine was in service. There was no patient injury.

Additional Manufacturer Narrative
The hms board was not requested back for investigation since the board was inspected by the fse and traces of burnt components were detected.Analysis of the serial readout confirmed the error code 450, associated with a motor control failure, was recorded multiple times on the date of the event (8 february 2024, b.3 updated accordingly).Review of the livanova complaints database did not identify any further issues for this unit since its installation in 2018.The root cause of the reported issue has been traced back to a faulty hms board.Failure of electronic boards can be related to multiple and not deterministic factors such as exposure to heat, dust and moisture, accidental impacts (drops and falls), and power overloads/surges but also to variability of micro subcomponents. The risk is in the acceptable region. No specific action was currently deemed necessary.Livanova will keep monitoring the market.
