It was reported that, during an orif femur procedure, drilling was performed with one (1) 7.0 compression screw drill. Then, when drilling with the lag screw drill, the drill could not advance to the nail due to metal interference. The nail was removed and checked, and it was noticed that the tip of the compression screw drill had fractured at the lag screw hole. The broken tip was removed with mikulicz' forceps. The procedure was resumed, after a non-significant delay (10 min), with the same device.Patient was not harmed as a consequence of this problem.
