On june 11, 2024, the mentor failure analysis lab received the device for evaluation. On june 14, 2024, the product investigation was completed.Device investigation summary: the product was returned to mentor for evaluation.Mentor conducted a visual inspection and leak testing of the returned device.Visual analysis of the returned sample revealed that the smo ro mod pro boost gel 430cc breast implant was found to have some bubbles within the gel around the patch.Leak testing was performed, in accordance with mentor procedures, and no areas of gel exposure were detected during the analysis.Bubbles in the gel can be originated with changes in pressure and temperature which can affect volume. The shell wall is permeable to air, therefore trapped air can form bubbles with changes in pressure or temperature. When left by themselves with no changes in temperature or pressure, bubbles usually dissipate over time, unless trapped by cured gel.Implant displacement/migration may occur from improper implant sizing and/or placement, i.E., when the implant is too large or the pocket too small or when there has been inadequate preoperative assessment of stresses causing movement of the prosthesis. As part of mentor¿s quality process, all devices are manufactured, inspected, and released to approved specifications. No corrective and preventive action (capa) is required now.
