Event or Problem Description
According to the reporter, during a wedge resection of the left upper lobe of the lung, the first firing completed the cutting and closing process without any problems.The second firing failed to complete the cutting and closing process, which led to damage the stapler handle.A new stapler from a different manufacturer was used to resolve the issue.No patient injury.
