It was reported that during use of the device for cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb), the blood parameter monitor (bpm) displayed a low partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pco2) value. The first calibration the pco2 value was 25 millimeters of mercury (mmhg) while the blood gas was 44 mmhg.It took the bpm approximately 15 minutes to display a value that was close to the actual value. After a second recalibration, the device was used for the remainder of the case with a value that was approximated. The surgical procedure was completed successfully. There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.
