Event or Problem Description
It was learned through implant patient registry that a patient with a 23mm 2700tfx aortic valve was explanted after an implant duration of 4 years, 4 months due to unknown reasons. The explanted valve was replaced with a 21mm 11500a inspiris resilia valve.Edwards lifesciences maintains an implant patient registry. This registry is a patient tracking mechanism for serialized edwards implantable devices (bioprosthetic heart valves and annuloplasty rings), rather than a true post-market surveillance registry.Through the registry, edwards is notified when these devices are implanted. In addition, patient and/or device status may be reported to the registry via the implantation data cards. The information is received from various sources (e.G.Surgeon, hospital, and patient family members) and is not received in the form of a conventional 'customer complaint'.The information reported may or may not be related to the edwards device.

Event or Problem Description
It was learned through implant patient registry and medical records that a patient with a 23mm 2700tfx aortic valve was explanted after an implant duration of 4 years, 4 months due to endocarditis. The explanted valve was replaced with a 21mm 11500a inspiris resilia valve.Per medical records, tee demonstrated thickened aortic leaflets with severely restricted opening.Intraoperatively, aortic valve had significant leaflet vegetations. No obvious signs of abscess cavity.Valve was explanted and replaced with a 21mm 11500a aortic valve.Tee demonstrated well-seated valve with no pvl post-cpb weaning.Patient tolerated the procedure well and returned to the icu in critical condition. This is a 66-year-old male patient.Edwards lifesciences maintains an implant patient registry.
