The field service representative (fsr) verified that the system power cord had a broken prong.He replaced the power cord.The unit operated to the manufacturer's specifications.
Event or Problem Description
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb) procedure, the heart-lung machine (hlm) power cord had a broken prong.As a result, an alternate device was employed.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.
