Although the customer initially reported a service code, review of the aed's internal log files determined that the service code after battery replacement was due to the previous battery fully depleting.Further analysis indicated that the battery life expectancy was reduced as a result of the customer's failure to promptly address repeated red asi warnings.As a follow up with the customer, the proper maintenance of this device was reviewed.Although the original customer report did not involve patient use and was not considered reportable, evaluation confirmed a malfunction that could delay or prevent therapy delivery in a clinical situation.As such, this event is being reported in accordance with 21 cfr 803.50.

A customer reported that their aed's asi is flashing red, and reporting a service code.They reported that this did not occur during patient use.
