Event or Problem Description
It was reported that balloon rupture occurred. The 90% stenosed target lesion was an area of in-stent restenosis (isr) located in the moderately tortuous and severely calcified superficial femoral artery.A 6.0 x 200 mm 200cm ranger (dcb) balloon catheter was selected for use.During the procedure, the balloon ruptured at 14 atmospheres. The device was removed without any problem, and the procedure was completed with another of the same device. There were no patient complications as a result of this event.

Additional Manufacturer Narrative
Device evaluated by mfr: the ranger was returned for analysis.A visual examination identified that the balloon was not folded which indicates that the balloon was subjected to positive pressure. The returned device was attached to an encore inflation unit.Positive pressure was applied when di water was observed to be leaking from a balloon pinhole located approximately 1mm distal from the proximal markerband. As per ifu the rated burst pressure for this device is 14 atmospheres. The markerbands and tip section of the device were visually examined, and no issues were noted with the markerbands or tip of the device.A visual and tactile examination of the hypotube shaft found no issues with the shaft.
