Complainant alleged that during a routine shift check by a clinician, the device failed self test and inappropriately displayed a "short detected" message.Complainant indicated that there was no patient involvement in the reported malfunction.

The device was returned to zoll medical corporation for evaluation.The customer's report was not replicated or confirmed.The device was put through extensive testing, including 30j self-testing, defib cycling, bench handling, and stressing unit with ac/dc, without duplicating the customer's report.An internal inspection found no discrepancies.The device was recertified and returned to the customer.Analysis of reports of this type has not identified an increase in trend.
