It was reported that a patient underwent a spinal procedure on an unknown date and barbed suture was used for subcuticular closure. The patient developed a sterile non-healing surgical wound. At the 4-week post-op visit, the patient was found to have a non-infected, non-healing incision. The surgeon opines the topical skin adhesive with mesh was the issue as she had not seen this on her shorter incisions closed with just topical skin adhesive. The surgeon has also been using vancomycin powder, supra-fascial up to the skin closure in the incisions as well.I&d of the incision was done.
