Medtronic received information regarding a navigation system being used during a sacroiliac and thoracolumbar procedure. It was reported that during a minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (mis tlif) procedure, a couple of the instruments were more than 2mm inaccurate when rotating the instrument. The surgeon covered one sphere at a time and reported the inaccuracies improved - therefore he moved forward by replacing a couple of the spheres to improve the inaccuracy of the instrument during rotation. This issue occurred intra-operatively and did not cause any delay in the procedure. There was no reported impact on patient outcome.
