Event or Problem Description
It was reported that during procedure, the tonsil sponge was placed in a cavity and the string detached from the middle portion of the sponge, and a portion fell into the patient cavity.The piece was fully retrieved when it was found and removed from the patient cavity prior to closing.An x-ray was not required.The patient was reported alive with no injury.
