Conclusion: device investigation did not reveal any device defect or damage, which has been present whilst implanted.Mechanical damages found are attributable to the removal surgery.According to the information received from the field the device was explanted due to skin dehiscence above the implant site and infection.Device sterilization records show that the device was subject to a valid sterilization process. Therefore it is unlikely that the device was the source of the reported infection.Additionally, the user never had any hearing benefit most likely due to the previous schwannoma removal. This is a final report.
