The device was returned to zoll medical for evaluation. The ecg monitoring failure message could not be replicated during testing.Review of the logs indicated ecg monitoring failures that coincided with rapid changes in cable id during the same event. This suggests that the multi-function cable (mfc) gasket is either missing or damaged, or that the mfc has intermittent functionality.Such a condition can lead to oscillation between the mfc pins and the device receptacle, resulting in fretting, as observed during our evaluation. No unsupported cable id was found, but one device reset was recorded. The customer's mfc was not returned for evaluation.Bench testing and ecg stressing were performed on the equipment returned, without reproducing the customer's issues. The mfc receptacle was replaced as a precaution.Additionally, a warning will be provided to the customer, advising disposal of the mfc to avoid recurrence. The device was recertified and returned to the customer.Analysis of reports of this type has not identified an increase in trend.
