Additional Manufacturer Narrative
Bayer case number: (b)(4).The final coil was protruding through my right fallopian tube "[fallopian tube perforation]"; coil fell out and imbedded in my uterus "[embedded device]"; serious illness that almost killed me "[illness]"; my fourth child was born "[pregnancy with contraceptive device]"; it failed "[device ineffective]"; so i had 3 coils in my body "[intentional insertion of multiple contraceptive devices]" have had medical issues with hpv "[hpv infection]"; my adrenal gland on the right side blew up "[adrenal disorder]".Case narrative: the below report was received by health authority (reference number: mw6000032 and mw6000030) on 24-aug-2026.The most recent information was received on 09-sep-2026.This spontaneous case was originally reported by a consumer and describes the occurrence of fallopian tube perforation ("the final coil was protruding through my right fallopian tube"), embedded device ("coil fell out and imbedded in my uterus") and illness ("serious illness that almost killed me") in a 57 year-old female patient who had essure (ess205) inserted (lot no.623831) for female sterilisation.Additional non-serious events are detailed below.Product or product use issues identified: device ineffective ("it failed") and intentional insertion of multiple contraceptive devices ("so i had 3 coils in my body").The patient had a medical history of parity 3.In 2006, the patient had essure (ess205) inserted.In (b)(6) 2007 she experienced pregnancy with contraceptive device ("my fourth child was born").In 2020 she experienced adrenal disorder ("my adrenal gland on the right side blew up").In 2023 she experienced fallopian tube perforation (seriousness criterion intervention required).Essure (ess205) was removed on an unknown date in the same year.On unknown date she experienced embedded device (seriousness criterion intervention required), illness (seriousness criterion medically important) and papilloma viral infection ("have had medical issues with hpv").The patient was treated with surgery (hysterectomy, in 2007, 2008 got the left tube cauterized and he removed the coil from my uterus and had to be removed).At the time of the report, the outcomes for fallopian tube perforation, illness, papilloma viral infection and adrenal disorder were unknown.Pregnancy related information: retrospective report.The patient's obstetric status was para 3.Last menstrual period and estimated date of delivery were not provided.The patient's treatment dates suggest potential fetal exposure to essure (ess205) during the first, second and third trimesters.The pregnancy outcome was reported as live single birth with no information on the child¿s health.The delivery occurred on an unknown date.The reporter considered adrenal disorder, embedded device, fallopian tube perforation, illness, papilloma viral infection and pregnancy with contraceptive device to be related to essure (ess205) administration.The reporter commented: i got the essure after my third child.They are nickle coils that were inserted into my fallopian tubes for the scar tissue to grow around and it failed and the left coil fell out and imbedded in my uterus, and my fourth child was born healthy.After his birth in (b)(6) 2007, i got another coil put in my left fallopian tube and so, i had 3 coils in my body.I got pregnant again and it did not survive.I went to a different dr and got the left tube cauterized and he removed the coil from my uterus.That was at medical center in 2007 or 2008.I have had medical issues with hpv, my adrenal gland on the right side blew up and had to be removed in 2020.The final coil was protruding through my right fallopian tube in 2023, and i had to have a hysterectomy.I only have 1 adrenal, so i had to keep my ovaries.I believe it has caused serious illness that almost killed me.There is much documentation and i pray there is help for the cost of my health and well-being patient experienced another pregnancy which is captured in argus case: (b)(4).Batch number- 623831; manufacture date- 30-jun-2007; expiration date- 31-may-2009.Quality-safety evaluation of ptc: for essure (ess205): no defect could be confirmed by the manufacturer.All component batches used for manufacturing of this product batch fulfilled the set specifications.Batch documentation did not reveal any deviations during the manufacturing process that could have caused the described complaint reason.Trend analysis of complaints are reviewed regularly;
