It was reported that this implantable cardioverter defibrillator (icd) was at end of life (eol) and the patient was shocked five times. It appeared that the rate was controlled after the shocks were delivered. There was supposedly a note that device tachy mode was off and it was not determined whether the shocks were appropriate. No additional adverse patient effects were reported. This icd remains in service.
