It was reported that after the six-week activation period for the artificial urinary sphincter (aus), the device did not activate and did not provide sufficient pressure for the cuff to coapt the urethra. As a result, the patient experienced urinary incontinence.Troubleshooting was performed, but it was unsuccessful.A cystoscopy was performed to visualize the cuff and verify that it was not providing sufficient pressure to close the urethra.A surgical procedure was performed, during which fluid loss was observed from a hole in the balloon; therefore, the balloon was removed and replaced. The original cuff and pump remained implanted. No further patient complications were reported.
