Event or Problem Description
A customer reported that their aed's asi is flashing red, and the device is reporting a service code.The customer did not report this occurring during patient use.
Additional Manufacturer Narrative
Although the customer initially reported a battery low warning, review of the aed's internal log files determined that the warning went unaddressed, resulting in the battery fully depleting within the unit.Analysis of the aed's log files identified that once a new battery was installed and a manual self test run the aed functioned as designed and could stay in service.Analysis of the aed's log files did not identify a cause for the depleted battery pack.As a follow up with the customer, the proper maintenance of this device was reviewed.Although the original customer report did not involve patient use and was not considered reportable, evaluation confirmed a malfunction that could delay or prevent therapy delivery in a clinical situation.As such, this event is being reported in accordance with 21 cfr 803.50.
