The reporter described the issue as the mattress "not holding air" and stated they did not know if it was "the monitor, the mattress or both." during investigation, medline determined the pump sent in with the mattress was not the pump that came with the mattress, the pump sent in was already broken, and the mattress would not inflate with a known good pump. The reported problem was confirmed because the mattress "clearly did not inflate." the cause code was adjusted to "dc: traced to user with misuse/mishandling," and the complaint was closed as out of warranty because the mattress and pump had been manufactured in 2015.There were no reports of death, serious injury, medical intervention, or follow up care.It has been determined that the reported event could cause or contribute to serious injury if it were to occur again. In an abundance of caution, this is a reportable event. If additional information becomes available this report will be reopened and reevaluated. This medical device report (mdr) is being submitted as part of retrospective review activities, which include review of historical data in accordance with regulations at 21 cfr part 803.The information included in this mdr reflects the information reasonably known to the manufacturer at the time of this retrospective review and submission.
