Event or Problem Description
It was reported that "the pendant is not working and there is no function to the bed" and "wires are exposed on the pendant.".
Additional Manufacturer Narrative
The customer stated that the pendant is not working and there is no function to the bed, and later informed wires are exposed on the pendant.Medline quality received one bed pendant in used condition; upon investigation, the pendant¿s wires appear to be exposed near the base of the pendant, and the pendant appears to be defective, as it does not allow the head section to raise when the corresponding button is pressed.Based on testing, all functions appear to operate as intended except for the raising function of the head section, and the customer complaint has been confirmed.Cause was documented as cannot determine cause w/received sample, and the division will monitor through trending.There were no reports of death, serious injury, medical intervention, or follow up care.It has been determined that the reported event could cause or contribute to serious injury if it were to occur again.In an abundance of caution, this is a reportable event.If additional information becomes available this report will be reopened and reevaluated.This medical device report (mdr) is being submitted as part of retrospective review activities, which include review of historical data in accordance with regulations at 21 cfr part 803.The information included in this mdr reflects the information reasonably known to the manufacturer at the time of this retrospective review and submission.
