The pump has not been returned to animas for evaluation.If the device is returned, an evaluation shall be completed and a supplemental report will be filed.No conclusions can be made at this time.
 
Event Description
On (b)(6) 2016, the reporter contacted animas, alleging a power (no power) issue.This complaint is being reported because the reported issue was not resolved with troubleshooting.There was no indication that the product caused or contributed to an adverse event.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
Follow-up #1: date of submission 03/10/2016.Device evaluation: the device has been returned and evaluated by product analysis on 03/01/2016 with the following findings: during investigation, the pump powered up with auditory and vibration to a blank screen but the ¿no power¿ complaint was unable to be adequately investigated.The battery compartment was undamaged and the battery cap was able to fit securely to the pump.The pump¿s cover was removed, and there was no intermittent condition found to the display circuit or the power circuit.Unrelated to the original complaint, a technical investigation revealed an eeprom failure.Additionally, the piston rod and lead screw were found to be broken off and detached from the motor assembly.
