No patient information provided as no patient was involved in this concern.The initial report occurred on (b)(6) 2016 and was found to be a non-reportable malfunction based on the information available at the time the event occurred.On 01/17/2017, a retrospective review related to a capa was completed for all events where the reported malfunction was not previously associated with serious injuries; the reporting determination has been revised to consider these malfunction events reportable.Investigation of returned suspect device found an electrical issue.When connected to a known good system, the monitor was blank.Cycling the power to the monitor caused an image to briefly flicker then go out again.A replacement touchscreen monitor was shipped to the site.The issue was resolved with the replacement.A full system check-out was completed and all tests passed.Full system functionality was confirmed and the system was returned to service.

A medtronic representative, following up with the site, reported that the site reported one of the system's touchscreen monitors was black status after launching the cranial application.The site disconnected and reconnected the monitor's power cable and rebooted the system.All monitors launched the boot text and displayed the application launch screen, but when in the cranial application, the one monitor went to black status.The second time the site rebooted the system, the one touchscreen monitor remained in black status during the boot up process.There was no patient present when this issue was identified.
