The actual device has been returned and is currently pending evaluation.Once reliability engineering evaluates the device, a supplemental medwatch report will be sent accordingly.If information is obtained that was not available for the initial medwatch, a follow-up medwatch will be filed as appropriate.
 
Event Description
It was reported that during an unspecified veterinary surgical procedure, it was observed that the oscillating saw attachment device made funny noises when pressure was applied to it and then the device stopped.It was unknown if there were delays to the surgical procedure or if a spare device was available for use.There was no human patient involvement as this was a veterinary procedure.There were no injuries, medical intervention or prolonged hospitalization.All available information has been disclosed.If additional information should become available, a supplemental medwatch will be submitted accordingly.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
This device was returned for service; however, did not meet manufacturing specifications during pre-repair assessment.During repair, it was determined that the bearings had seized, jammed, and moved heavily.It was further determined that the needle bearing and attachment were blocked.The device also failed pretest for check frequency.10800 to 13200 osc/min.Therefore, the reported condition was confirmed.The assignable root cause was determined to be due to wear from normal use and servicing.If additional information should become available, a supplemental medwatch will be submitted accordingly.
