Complainant alleged that during a routine shift check by a clinician, the device powered on without display.Complainant indicated that there was no patient involvement in the reported malfunction.

This supplemental medwatch report is reporting the evaluation of the device.This supplemental medwatch report is also correcting information submitted on the initial medwatch report.Evaluation results: the reported malfunction was observed and attributed to the lithium battery on the system board.Zoll medical corporation recommends replacement of the lithium battery on the system board every 5 years.This device is approximately 9 years old from date of manufacture.Analysis of reports of this type has not identified an increase in trend.
