The device is included in the neuromodulation implantable pulse generator (ipg) inoperable when exposed to monopolar electrosurgery advisory notice issued by abbott on 02 june 2017.The manufacturer has limited information related to the patient's medical history and is unable to form an opinion as to the relevancy of the patient's history to the event reported.The manufacturer defers to the patient's physician regarding medical history.
 
Event Description
It was reported the patient underwent unrelated surgery.Reportedly, patient forgot to put ipg in the surgery mode.As a result, patient lost stimulation.Manufacturer representative attempted troubleshooting and updating the software multiple times, but ipg could not communicate with the external devices.Ipg was deemed inoperable.Surgical intervention may be undertaken at a later date to address the issue.
 
Event Description
Additional information identified that surgical intervention was undertaken wherein the scs ipg was explanted and replaced (same ipg pocket was used) with a new model.Patient is reportedly receiving effective stimulation post-operatively.Issue had been resolved.
