Information was received from a healthcare professional (hcp) via a manufacturer representative (rep) regarding a patient who was implanted with a neurostimulator for gastric stimulation.It was reported that the patient had a persistent fever and a rash around their implant site that spread to their abdomen.This was noted to be an infection.A cat scan showed fluid around the implant site.It was noted that wound cultures were not done, but it was determined that the patient had cellulitis.The fever persisted for several days following, requiring an inpatient stay.The patient was treated with antibiotics and, as of (b)(6) 2019, they were discharged with no signs of fever.No surgical interventions occurred and there were no external factors reported.The issue was resolved at the time of the report and the patient had a follow-up appointment with their gastrointestinal hcp and surgeon on (b)(6) 2019.No device issues or further complications were reported or anticipated.
